Using the Library

Library Registration and Borrowing Books

You can register at the JCC information desk or at the library on the second floor during the hours it is staffed. (Or click here for our online Registration Card.)
  • Fill out the beige registration card. This will enable you to borrow books from the library and will facilitate communication. On the card fill it out completely including your email address if you have one. Please print or write clearly.
  • When you borrow books from the library: Remove the book card from the pocket. Fill it out including the date you borrowed it. Leave it in the box labeled "BOOK CARDS".
  • Books are due after 21 days! Books with a red circle on the spine are for reference only and may not be taken out of the library.

 

Guidelines for Contributing Books and Materials

Gifts of new or used books of Judaic content and/or by Jewish authors are gratefully accepted by the Tucson Jewish Community Library with the understanding that they will be considered for addition to the collection in accordance with the mission statement and collection policy.

The library director and staff reserve the right to add only selected items from any donation. All items added to the library collection become the property of the Library for disposition as the library director and staff determine will best benefit the library.

Please note the following donation guidelines:
  • Donations are limited to no more than three bags or boxes at any one time and the donor’s name, address, and telephone number are required with all donations.
  • Materials must be in new or nearly new condition.
  • Jewish children’s books, if they are in excellent condition, will be accepted and will be recycled/given to parents as part of a separate program of the library.
  • Haggadot (home service books for the Passover Seder), Vinyl records, audiotapes, and Jewish magazines and periodicals in good condition (less than one year old) will be accepted.
  • Diaries, journals, newspaper articles and pictures and other memorabilia relating to the Tucson Jewish community or to southern Arizona would be welcome additions to the Jewish Heritage Foundation of Southern Arizona, formerly known as the Stone Avenue Temple.
  • The Library cannot accept: individual encyclopedia volumes, textbooks, workbooks, general magazines, condensed books, pocketbooks (unless they are in perfect condition) or outdated books, children’s Jewish textbooks, workbooks or Hebrew books.
  • Books, magazines, and other items that are old, damaged, damp or mildewed cannot be added to the collection.
  • IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:

    You can leave donations of these items at the JCC front desk.
    Please call the JCC prior to bringing the items (299-3000.)
    Books and materials may be added or discarded from the collection without consulting the original donor, and the Library reserves the right to dispose of the gifts at a later date.

    The Library is not permitted to place a value on donations for tax purposes.
